Engineers Without Borders in Kikoo, Cameroon

For the past five years, the Yale student chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) has worked with the village of Kikoo in the Bui Region in northwest Cameroon to plan and construct a gravity-fed water distribution system. Since the group’s first assessment trip in 2007, numerous trip teams have returned to Kikoo to inspect completed portions of the system and to help with new construction. Each trip team also has worked to collect extensive data, create maps of the area’s terrain, address hydraulic issues, and educate villagers on topics such as water conservation and sanitation.
